A teenager from has been arrested after he allegedly kidnapped, raped and killed a six-year-old girl on a farm in Brazil.
Marcos Antonio Bairros, 18, was apprehended and detained after he confessed to the murder of Sophia, aged 6, on Friday, 24th February ths year.
Reports claimed that the suspect – from the municipality of Douradina, in Parana State, Brazil – reportedly stole a motorcycle earlier that day and then spotted the little girl playing in the neighbourhood on his way home.
A spokesperson from the Police Station in Pronto Dourados confirmed: “The boy stole the motorcycle.
“Then, on his way home, he saw the child on the sidewalk, picked her up and took her to a soybean plantation.
“There he tied the girl with her hands behind her back, sexually abused her and then, with the girl’s clothes hung her until she was unconscious.”
In order to cover up his crime, the alleged offender then reportedly hid poor Sophia’s body in an area covered with plants and trees and fled the scene.
But his disgusting crime was uncovered after the police found the little girl’s disfigured body when her aunt, who she lived with, reported her disappearance.
The distressed woman pointed Bairros, who was their first-door neighbour, as the main suspect after locals told her that he was the last person they saw her niece with.
A spokesperson from the Police Station in Pronto Dourados said: “We talked to the girl’s aunt.
“She said that the neighbour would be the suspect of kidnapping her niece, since witnesses said that he was the only one seen on the street when the girl disappeared.”
After searching for hours, the police then found the girl’s body at around 1am on Saturday, 25th February 2023.
After an autopsy proved that she suffered severe physical and sexual abuse, the police arrested Bairros, who confessed.
He also revealed that he had raped another girl, aged 7, on Sunday, 1st January 2023.
Bairros reportedly faces charges for homicide, rape and theft, police claimed.
Sophia’s school expressed their condolences to the girl’s family and published a photo of her on social media.
They said: “The school deeply regrets the death of our former student Sophia. We are speechless! May God comfort the family.”
