Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed “a possible reinforcement is something that is on the table” when asked about the possible signing of Valencia striker Rodrigo.

President Bartomeu, 56, made the comments during an awards gala for Spanish newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’ yesterday (Monday).

When asked about the possible signing of Valencia striker Rodrigo, 28, Bartomeu said: “Rodrigo? We do not speak about players from opposing clubs.”

However, the Barcelona president revealed: “If you are asking about a possible reinforcement, that is something that is on the table. There is a possibility for another player to come, it may be from Barca B or from outside.

“Do I like Rodrigo? I like a lot of players.”

When speaking about Argentine superstar Lionel Messi’s future at Barcelona, Bartomeu said: “Messi will finish in Barca when he wants, it is a relationship for life, he knows that.

“There is still a lot of Leo Mess left, many more years of good football, of playing, of making us enjoy. Let’s enjoy him because even though he was fewer years left than before, he still has many of years left.”

Bartomeu went on to talk about Barcelona’s standings in La Liga after a 2-0 loss to Valencia in their last match which saw them lose top spot to Real Madrid.

Bartomeu said: “I am not worried, we are working really hard, we are putting in a lot of effort and everything is open, La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey…

“We worry about our club in every match but now, after a loss, comes the Copa on Thursday against Leganes and La Liga on Sunday. This does not stop and you have to keep working.

He ended by saying he had “confidence” in current Barcelona boss Quique Setien, 61, “and in everything he is doing for the club.”

Barcelona are second in La Liga with 43 points while Real Madrid sit top with 46.
