This is the moment brown sewage appears to pour out of a sink after a French influencer stuffed bath pearls into his plumbing in a viral video that some suspect is an elaborate hoax.

Instagram star Cyril Schneider, who has over 1.1 million followers on the social media channel, shocked his viewers with a series of videos seemingly showing his plumbing packed with bath pearls that apparently forced sewage out of his sink as they expanded.

The videos have racked up millions of views in total.

At the start of one of the videos, Schneider has placed hundreds of bath pearls, small balls that grow when they come in contact with water, into his bathtub in the commune of Boissiere in the northern French department of Eure.

He then found however that the pearls had apparently ‘invaded’ all the plumbing in his house and worked to remove them.

Schneider, who goes by ‘Cyridicul’ online, then apparently puts salt down his plumbing on the recommendation of his followers who say that it “shrinks” the pearls, before washing the salt down with water.

He then says the plumbing is making “weird noises” before a brown liquid begins spluttering out of his sink and he shouts “it smells like sh*t, it’s the sh*t coming back up”.

He then appears to be crying as he goes outside claiming he “can’t take it anymore” as “it’s coming back up every hole in the house”.

He then walks his dog where he apparently discovers even more bath pearls around a drain on the street.

He later claimed to have received a letter from the mayor of his commune reading: “Following several complaints, we discovered that several drains have been blocked, as well as several gardens. Each inhabitant who found this substance on his land will have to file a complaint to obtain a penal sanction.”

However, when contacted by a local TV station, the town hall denied sending the letter, saying “This is our letterhead, but this letter is a fake. Obviously, this whole thing is a hoax. He’s making it up, it’s not serious.”

A local TV station claims that the videomaker shot the first images of his bath and toilet in his village in Eure.

Reports claim that he staged the blockage of the pipes in another commune because his village has no collective sewage disposal system.

Schneider has since said: “I am really in a bad mood. Some newspaper articles denigrate me, people insult me, I need a rest.”

After the videos received over 1.3 million views netizens have been quick to comment such as ‘SRH’ who commented: “How long have you not taken a shower, btw.”

Another comment reads: “If you made all this up then your idea is brilliant. But if it’s true then you’re living in sh*t. Go shoot a picture with the Mayor to cool things down.”

‘Perle rares de Belgique’ posted: “Idiot of the day.”
