Police in Brazil have seized an influencer for blackmailing women with revenge porn, leading one to take her own life.

Mauricio Rocha Filho, 25, who went by the name ‘Hetero Top’ (Top Hetero), was arrested in Belem, Para state, on 9th December accused of blackmail and extortion.

His arrest took place following the death of influencer Luma Bonny.

Luma, 23, took her own life after Filho allegedly blackmailed her with a sex tape and put it on the internet.

After learning of his arrest, more women came forward to allege that Filho had threatened to put explicit images of them online if they did not hand him money.

Local media report that he is now the subject of eight lawsuits.

He is currently in pre-trial custody in Santa Isabel do Para.

Police believe his modus operandi was to introduce himself to women online, chat to them to get to know them and gain their trust, and then invite them on a date.

He is then believed to have drugged his victims, raped them, and filmed everything so he could blackmail them with the footage at a later date.

After chatting to him online, Luma had agreed to go to a club with Filho. On the day of the date, she had sent her friend a message alleging that she had been drugged.

Filho is believed to have raped and filmed her at his home later on.

He then used the video to blackmail her, distressing her to the point that she took her own life, it is alleged.

Luma’s sister, Luara, took to social media to write: “Many girls have already gathered the courage to speak the truth, to tell what they went through, and I can only thank each one of them for giving my sister the voice she doesn’t have, the voice she can no longer have right now.

“So, girls, each one of you is part of Luma’s voice. Thank you so much for coming forward, for speaking up. And know that my family will always be with you.”

It is not clear if Filho is also charged with rape or manslaughter.
