This is the terrifying moment when a drink driver hurtles across a road and slams into a family on a motorbike.
The horror smash in Barcarena, Brazil, on 9th January claimed the life of pillion passenger Dayanne Oliveira.
Her husband and their young child, who was seated between the couple, were injured in the incident.
Chilling security camera footage shows how the family stops on the side of the road to chat to people outside a fruit and veg store.
But all of a sudden, a car slams into them from behind and thrusts them onto the pavement at speed before horrified onlookers run towards them.
The man behind the wheel of the wayward vehicle was later seized by police and admitted to driving under the influence.
Civil Police said in a statement: “The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident confessed to having consumed alcohol.”
He was identified in reports as Wallace do Vale Barbosa.
Dayanne, whose head hit the car windscreen in the collision, reportedly died from her injuries at Wandick Gutierrez Municipal Hospital.
Civil Police continued: “Two other people, one of them a child, were injured and were taken for the necessary care.”
They were reportedly released after receiving medical treatment. Their names were withheld in reports.
Police did not divulge how far over the drink-drive limit the driver was. It is not clear if he has been charged.
