This is the arsenal of AK-47s and AR-15s cops have seized from an American street gang in an operation which saw six alleged hitmen arrested – including two minors.
The operation took place in the Flor del Campo neighbourhood in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa in the Francisco Morazan Department in central Honduras.
According to local authorities, The Honduran Investigation Police (DPI) launched a police operation that ended up with cops raiding to a house and arresting six alleged hitmen.
Two of the criminals are minors while the other four are adults. Their exact ages are unclear.
The hitmen are believed to be part of the criminal gang ‘Pandilla 18’, a transnational criminal organisation that started as a street gang in Los Angeles.
Local authorities also seize an arsenal which included two assault rifles (AK-47 and AR-15), three pistols, a revolver, six bulletproof vests, ammunition and cannabis.
The detainees are Robertson Joan Mondragon Mejia (alias ‘El Ronquito’), Wagner Alexis Funez Berrios (‘El Filero’), Flavio Cesar Sanchez Cruz (‘Flavio’), Edas Leonel Martinez Garcia, Jeferson Elias Cruz Lopez, Joel sierra Andino (‘El Tin’).
According to the police some of the members of the gang are being investigated for several murder cases, extorsion, vehicle robbery, and drug trafficking.
The investigation is ongoing and it is unclear if the suspects have been charged.
