This is the moment a cute kitten is rescued from a two-metre deep hole inside a utility pole after becoming trapped.

The kitten was rescued outside a residential building in the western Russian capital Moscow.

According to local media, the cat fell down a two-metre gap and there was no way it could climb out by itself. It is still unclear how the feline managed to get inside the pole.

Passersby heard the kitten’s cries and contacted the animal organisation Spasreserv.

A spokesperson for Spasreserv said that they only managed to rescue the fluffy kitten on the third attempt.

The spokesperson added: “The poor thing first had to be lassoed and we working blind.”

Dmitry Zavrazhin, who was leading the rescue operation, said that he lassoed the kitten two times, but it fell back down the gap on both occasions.

Eventually, the rescuers’ efforts paid off and the cute kitten was freed.

According to local media, even though the animal was very cold and weak, it did not have any signs of injury.

A vet later confirmed the kitten was unhurt and volunteers are currently trying to find a forever home for the fluffy troublemaker.

Netizen ‘AlenkinShh’ said: “Thank you for doing such a great job. I hope the kitten gets well very soon and finds a loving family.”
