A gardening firm boss dug up a fortune when he joined his workers on a coffee break and won a USD 50,000 prize on a lotto scratchcard.
Landscaper Kevin Wallett – from Reisterstown, Baltimore County, Maryland State, USA – had dropped in for breakfast with his workers at a fast food eaterie.
And when he joined in the fun by buying just one scratch off ticket, he was astonished to find he was a winner.
Kevin – who owns BHK Lawn Maintenance – revealed in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Maryland Lottery: ” A feeling just came over me. I couldn’t believe it.”
Kevin had bought a USD 20 (GBP 16.8) instant ticket and scanned it using Maryland Lottery’s mobile app.
But he reportedly never expected the screen to show a ‘Take to Agent’ message, after which Wallett scratched a bit more only to see it held a USD 50,000 (GBP 41,931) prize.
He collected his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters at 1800 Washington Blvd #330, Baltimore.
He told officials he is still thinking about how to use the money.
Maryland Lottery officials said: “The popular USD 50,000 [GBP 41,931] Cash game went on sale on 29th December with 160 top prizes of USD 50,000 [GBP 41,931].
“There are still 142 remaining, along with 149 USD 5,000[GBP 4,187] prizes.
“The game was ranked fourth on the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-offs roster for the week ending on 5th February.”
The retailer where the lucky man bought the ticket will receive a USD 500 (GBP 418) bonus for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off ticket.
