Mustafa C., 49, is charged with murdering his shop owner Tekin Yilmaz, 48, in Chemnitz, Saxony, eastern Germany, in the summer of 2021.

After butchering his corpse, prosecutors say he sealed the dismembered body parts in plastic bags and stashed them in the Ore Mountains.

Prosecutors say he used his kebab shop meat-cutting skills to gruesomely chop his boss’ body into pieces.

Lead prosecutor Erkan Cetinkaya said: “The act was committed professionally and in cold blood.”

The killer – they add – placed a EUR-2 (GBP-1.76) coin on Tekin Yilmaz’s severed torso.

The coin – reported local media – could be a throwback to ancient superstitions where a coin paid for one’s journey into the afterlife.

Some of the victim’s friends reportedly believe that Mustafa C. was addicted to drugs and was after his boss’ savings.

After the killing, Mustafa C. fled Germany to his native Turkey, where he was arrested.

As there is no extradition treaty between the two countries, the accused is being tried in his homeland.

The Chemnitz public prosecutor’s office has handed their evidence files to their Turkish counterparts, including traces of the victim’s blood, said to have been found in Mustafa C.’s apartment.

Turkish investigator Hasan Semih Kali said: “The investigation results from Germany were outstanding.”
