SPARK OUT: All-Nighter For Firefighters As Notorious Costa Club Goes Up In Smoke

A notorious beach bar on Spain’s Costa del Sol has burned to the ground in a blaze that took firefighters all night to put out.

The Kokun Ocean Club in Torremolinos was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic after footage of a DJ from Les Castizos spitting alcohol at clubbers emerged.

Now the entire club has been turned to cinders in the intense blaze.

Emergency services were first called at around 00.30am on 17th November about a huge fire on the promenade in Torremolinos.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

Torremolinos fire chief Alfonso Ric said: “We mobilised all our crews and we were working for three or three and a half hours until it was extinguished.”

However, the firefighters were unable to prevent the bar from being completely burnt to a crisp by the flames because its structure is largely made of wood.

The area had closed for low season a month ago and was empty at the time of the blaze, which was so large that it was visible all over the town and from different points of the coast.

Firefighters were still working at the scene on the morning of 17th November to douse the structure in case a piece of ash or a spark caused a new fire that could damage surrounding buildings.

It is not clear what caused the blaze, but police are investigating. No injuries were reported.
