Cops in Brazil found a bungling armed robber hiding under a pile of old clothes and bizarrely smoking a cigarette after they spotted his feet poking out.

A video shows the moment officers catch the suspect as they happen upon the mound of clothes with two feet poking out from underneath.

The suspected armed robber – realising his time is up – then throws off the clothes on top of him as he tugs on a cigarette stone-faced.

Cops arrested Nilton Silva Santana, 46, and another man identified as Iago Ramos Silverio, 22, on suspicion of robbery on 13th October.

Civil Police say they broke into a home in Guapo, Goias State and held a knife to the throats of the occupants – a mother, 59, and her daughter, aged 15.

The report said: “Using violence, they stole several objects from the residence, among them mobile phone devices and clothes.”

Then, say police, they fled.

Officers found the stolen goods in Ramos Silverio’s home and returned them to their rightful owners.

Civil Police released the suspects’ mugshots because they said they are suspected of committing other serious crimes, without providing further details.

The two reportedly have multiple criminal convictions.
