This is the moment a driver turns off the main road with his eight-year-old son in the car and another vehicle T-bone crashes into them at high speed, crushing the car and killing them both.

Faruk Turk and his son Talha Turk were hit by driver Ali Cigli at around 3 pm in the municipality of Tuzla in the Turkish province of Istanbul on 10th November.

The father and son died shortly after the crash while Cigli was transferred to a hospital to undergo treatment alongside two of his passengers, Can Akca and Yigit Reha, reported the news outlet Haberler on the day of the incident.

In the footage, Faruk Turk can be seen trying to turn at a crossing and, in the process, moves into the path of oncoming traffic.

Cigli, the driver of the oncoming vehicle, smashes directly into the side of the car, sending it flying along the lane and even lifting two of its wheels off the ground at the moment of impact.

The two cars disappear out of the security camera’s view as the momentum from the crash sends the wreckage of Faruk Turk’s car flying down the road.

After the footage of the incident was published, netizens claimed that Cigli was participating in a street race and hitting speeds of almost 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph) on a road where the speed limit was 50 kilometres per hour (31 mph).

Netizen ‘Kara Sahin Dustu’ wrote: “The crashing car and the car following it are extremely fast. They were probably racing. It’s not normal to drive that fast in the city. At least 30 years imprisonment for attempted murder.”

Another netizen named ‘Adil’ wrote: “How can they drive at that speed? Is that a highway? They are obviously racing on the urban road. God knows, there were probably some punk kids in the car.”
