This is the moment a father teaches his 10-year-old son how to drive at 100 kph on a busy motorway and tells him “don’t worry about the police.”

The father, named only as Hidayet D., filmed his son Efe overtaking cars and lorries on a dual carriageway between the town of Pinarbasi and the city of Kayseri in central Turkey’s Kayseri Province.

Hidayet D., who is sitting alongside the boy, reportedly 10 years old, in the passenger seat of the car, later proudly shared the clip on social media.

He is heard saying: “Efe you are driving fast. It’s 100 kph. Be careful, drive carefully. Step lightly on the accelerator pedal.”

But when a police car passes by and the boy comments “the police are here”, his dad reassures him: “Don’t worry about the police.”

Efe can also be heard asking: “Should I overtake the lorry?”, when he comes up behind a slower vehicle and his mother, who is sitting in the back, shouts back: “No, no!”

There is no report on whether police are investigating the incident but the video has sparked a lively debate on social media.

Netizen ‘Recep Kelester’ commented: “What kind of parents are you? Authorities should seize their driving licences until the end of their lives.”

‘Sedat Gunuc’ agreed: “The father is a traffic monster and he teaches his son the same way”, while ‘Elif Adem Simsek’ noted: “So many stupid people out there.”
