These images show an eight-year-old girl has posed with a sign saying “I beg you, please do not let me lose my dad” as part of a campaign to help her father be treated abroad for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

According to reports, the girl’s desperate plea was shared by the ‘Save a Heart’ association after her dad, 33-year-old Sergiu Sandu from the Republic of Moldova, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).

‘Save a Heart’ said in a social media post: “Sergiu’s daughter Polina is begging us for help. These guys have nothing left but hope.”

NGO head Vlad Placinta said: “When Sergiu was first diagnosed with the disease in Moldova, they could hardly help him because of the poor medicine there. With some help from others, the young dad was sent to the Emsey Clinic in Istanbul, Turkey.”

After undergoing treatment in Turkey, Sergiu has since moved to Romania to continue his battle against ALL and the overall cost is said to be 90,000 USD (69,800 GBP).

‘Save a Heart’ launched a fundraising campaign earlier this month and managed to raise 15,000 EUR (12,860 GBP) in the first 10 days, according to reports.

Another NGO called ‘Caritate’ has also started a campaign and together they have managed to raise 34,000 USD (26,370 GBP).

ALL is a cancer of the lymphoid line of blood cells characterised by the development of large numbers of immature lymphocytes. Symptoms may include feeling tired, pale skin colour, fever, easy bleeding or bruising, enlarged lymph nodes and bone pain.
