This picture shows an eight-year-old boy apparently chained to a sofa, blindfolded and wrapped with Scotch tape at the house of his female guardian.

Local media report the police received an anonymous tip-off that a child was being mistreated at the unidentified woman’s house and juvenile prevention officers together with children’s affairs services then made an unannounced visit to the house in Dnipro, a city in central Ukraine. 

According to local media, the child was found bound and chained while blindfolded and wrapped in tape.

The youngster has since been sent to undergo a forensic and psychological examination.

Four children were found in the house and they are four, six, eight and 13 years old, three of whom are in the custody of the woman living in the house, while the 13-year-old is her own child.

All children were then children were taken away and placed in a centre for socio-psychological rehabilitation.

It has not been reported whether they showed signs of abuse.

According to the official website of the National Police of Ukraine, the forensic examination found that the boy had bruises and abrasions all over his body.

An investigation is currently underway. The woman was also ordered not to leave her place of residence between 9 am to 6 pm until 22nd October pending further investigations.

It is unclear why the three children were under the care fo the woman.
