This video – seen 20 million times in less than 24 hours – shows a bungling dad putting his own son through an X-ray scanner while rushing to catch a train.

CCTV cameras at Guigang Railway Station in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in South China captured the hilarious moment on 12th January.

The parent named as Mr Huang works in the city of Guigang and was travelling with his three-year-old to the city of Guangzhou, capital of neighbouring Guangdong Province, where his wife works.

According to the authorities, Mr Huang had left his home to late and barely left enough time for him and his boy to get through security.

Surveillance video captured Mr Huang arriving at the security checkpoint with his toddler sitting on his suitcase.

He picks up the boy, but instead of putting him down on the floor, the bungling parent lifts him straight onto the X-ray machine’s conveyor belt.

The confused tot is then sent rolling into the scanner before Mr Huang realises his mistake and plucks him back out with the help of a uniformed security officer nearby.

Station staff said the tot was not harmed during the incident, with both parent and child understood to have caught their high-speed train to Guangzhou, where they will be spending the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays starting 25th January.
