This 25-year-old went to doctors for help after a pea-sized brain tumour made him grow B-cup breasts, lactate from his nipples, gain 55 pounds and gave him erectile dysfunction.

Mr Wang, 25, said the embarrassment over his unusual symptoms brought him to Hangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in East China this past July.

His doctor, the facility’s deputy head endocrinologist Jin Jianhong, suspected he was suffering from prolactinoma.

The condition is characterised by a benign tumour of the pituitary gland in the base of the brain which causes excess production of the milk-stimulating hormone prolactin.

While affecting women more than men, the condition causes a decrease in the sex hormone testosterone in male patients.

Doctor Jin noted: “When inspecting his enlarged breasts, his breast milk would squirt out with a gentle touch.

“I asked whether he had any symptoms such as headaches. He said yes.

“I contacted our colleagues in radiology who did scans and discovered a tumour in his pituitary gland.

“The tumour caused his body to produce prolactin, which led to the development of his mammary glands and also caused a series of issues including erectile dysfunction.”

Mr Wang said his meals were irregular due to a fluctuating appetite, and he lost the drive to exercise, causing him to gain 25 kilogrammes (25 lbs) in the past year.

He was finally convinced by his girlfriend to seek medical attention.

Doctor Jin said Mr Wang was put on a course of medication which has successfully suppressed and reduce the noncancerous growth to nearly half its initial size in the past three months.

It now measures 4 millimetres (0.16 inches) from its initial size of 7 millimetres (0.28 inches).

Mr Wang’s mammary blades have also decreased in size, and he is now growing a beard, the medic said.
