This is the stunning 22-year-old Miss Belarus who has been elected into the country’s parliament after a rumoured fling with ‘Europe’s last dictator’.
Maria Vasilevich was crowned Miss Belarus 2018 a year ago and has now been elected into the country’s parliament as an MP in the country’s parliament. She has been linked romantically with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994 – and has dubbed ‘Europe’s last dictator’, in local media.
The pair have appeared in public together at several events including the opening of the Slavic Bazaar this year and at numerous sporting events.
The 22-year-old is a graduate from the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Belarusian State Economic University and has been working as a TV presenter in the country for a while.
However, she will now seemingly have to leave her career in TV to move in politics and she wrote on social media: “When I look back at this autumn I want to say thank you. Thank you for the obstacles, for the power and the harmony.”
Maria was born in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk and grew up in a large family.
She claims that she did not think of herself as a beauty queen, however, her family, mainly her father always tried to convince her she could win pageants.
An unnamed user of a local Internet forum said: “Shame on you, government of Belarus. What are you thinking of!?”
Another one ‘111’ added: “She is a very nice and cute girl but I am starting to get terrified for the people when I see such young and inexperienced people striving for power. What kind of specialist can she be? She must have had an affair with someone at the top of the country if she got so high up.”
While ‘vremya takoye’ commented: “It seems to me that the majority of people ruling different countries nowadays are clowns, thieves or prostitutes.”
