This is the moment a female paraglider in a stretcher is lifted up the face of a ravine by US firefighters after she lost height and tumbled from the skies.

The paragliding accident took place at a ravine next to Citizens Trail at Black’s Beach in the seaside resort of La Jolla within the city of San Diego in the US state of California on 12th July.

The unnamed 27-year-old paraglider from San Diego lost lift and fell from the skies into a ravine next to the beach, according to news site La Jolla Light.

San Diego lifeguard Andy Lerum said that firefighters and lifeguards were called to the scene at around 2pm.

Lerum added that the woman had taken off from the nearby Torrey Pines Gliderport with a group of paragliders.

He said: “She lost her lift, came tumbling down and injured herself on impact.”

Lerum said that rescuers placed the victim on a stretcher and lifted her up the ravine to Citizens Trail, a popular route leading to Black’s Beach.

The footage shows the moments firefighters and lifeguards lift the woman up the ravine while she’s strapped into a stretcher.

The San Diego Fire Department accompanied the video with the message: “SDLifeguards and SDFD rescue a downed female paraglider with injuries at Blacks Beach. #OneTeam.”

The injured paraglider was taken to hospital for checks and there have been no further updates on her condition.
