This is the shocking moment two horses escape their owner and hop across a dual carriageway fence in front of an oncoming car which sends them flying through the air.

The incident took place in the north-western Turkish province of Eskisehir when the motorist, identified as Musa Ozgul, was travelling towards the capital Ankara with his wife and two children.

Ozgul was surprised when the two horses suddenly ran out in front of his vehicle. Sadly, he was unable to take evasive action and the impact killed the animals.

Reports said that the motorist’s car was seriously damaged, but luckily none of the occupants were injured.

Ozgul told local media: “I was driving along when all of a sudden, two horses ran in front of me. I applied the brakes, but it was too late and I hit the horses.

According to local media, the police arrived on the scene and closed the road to begin their investigation. Shortly afterwards, the dead horses were removed and the road was reopened.

In the footage, the two horses are seen in the middle of the road as a man runs over and tries to grab the rope tied to one of them.

However, the horses break away and cross the central reservation side-by-side.

Although slightly obscured by a stationary vehicle, the horses are seen walking in front of a speeding white car which sends them flying into the air.
