According to the Military Police, the teenager was at the family home in Sorriso, Mato Grosso State, with his brother, Rodrigo Maniezo Fernandes, on 12th May.

That night, a petty quarrel reportedly broke out between the hungry lads about what food they were going to eat.

According to the police, the teenager – whose name is being withheld – wanted to make a hamburger, while Rodrigo, 20, fancied popcorn.

The argument soon took a sinister turn when the younger brother allegedly grabbed a large knife from the kitchen and stabbed Rodrigo in the chest.

According to reports, the wounded sibling ran out into the street and collapsed in a pool of his own blood.

The Fire Department was called, but firefighters could only pronounce him dead at the scene.
