11 Women Arrested For Breaking Quarantine To Play Footy

These eleven women have been arrested for breaking coronavirus quarantine to play a football match.

The incident took place at an amateur pitch in the Villa del Carmen, in the northeastern Argentina province of Chaco where the women had reportedly planned to play a match.

Local media report five police officers went to the scene after receiving a call saying that a group of people had broken the quarantine rules ordered by the government.

When police arrived, eleven women were found about to play a football match, local media reported. One of them was only 15 years old while the rest were adults aged between 19 and 30 years old.

All of them were taken to the police station where they had to provide their personal information and a report was filed against them.

The owner of the pitch was also arrested for allowing them to go onto the pitch.

Five motorbikes belonging to some of the women, whose names have not been revealed, were also seized at the scene.

Local media report that Argentina has closed its borders and only the production and sale of food, cleaning and security products are allowed.

Citizens have been asked to stay at home with only essential movement permitted.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Argentina has registered 1,265 cases of coronavirus with 37 deaths.
