This is the moment a bungling woman driver trying to park her car accidentally puts it in reverse and runs herself over when she gets out.

The incident was caught on the dashcam of another car as it approached a residential area’s underground car park entrance in the city of Zhongshan in China’s southern Guangdong Province.

The footage dated 18th February shows the female resident stopping her silver car on the side of the entrance and opening her door to get out when the vehicle suddenly starts travelling backwards.

In the video, the desperate woman tries steering her saloon as it reverses, and the car park’s security guard also tries stopping it by pushing it from behind.

However, the vehicle continues travelling backwards and the open car door knocks the woman to the ground, with the car’s front wheel then running her over before it crashes into another vehicle and stops.

As the video ends, the woman remains pinned under the front wheel as witnesses rush over to help.

Local police, who said the resident was hospitalised with a broken leg, confirmed that she did indeed put the car in reverse, which explained why it rolled so quickly down the slope and could not be stopped by the guard pushing it from behind.

The authorities said they were still investigating the case.
