This is the moment a nursery teacher throttles a young pupil in her care while allegedly trying to break up a fight in class.

The incident reportedly took place at the Dongfang Bali (Paris of the East) nursery school in the city of Hengyang in China’s central Hunan Province on 29th March.

CCTV footage of the alleged abuse has been widely shared online and viewed just under a million times in just three hours.

the footage shows the unnamed nursery school teacher pushing the young boy against a set of wooden shelves behind the classroom while allegedly choking him by putting her arms around his neck.

Reports have also accused her of slapping the child, with the video showing several other children quickly gathering around and impeding the security camera’s view of the incident.

The nursery school has since released a statement to local media claiming the boy had been involved in a fight, and that the teacher was trying to break up the scuffle.

“The teacher plays with the pupils too and sometimes her actions seem a bit exaggerated, but she did not harm anyone,” a spokeswoman said.

She added: “Teacher’s actions appeared to be appropriate, so the police are now investigating and have taken security footage in order to review it.”

It added that the teacher has been suspended for the time being while city officials look into the case.
