This is the moment a traffic cop has to leap out of the way as a speeding lorry slides towards him on the icy road and misses him by millimetres before crashing into his patrol car.

The incident took place in the city of Yekaterinburg in the western Russian region of Sverdlovsk Oblast and was filmed by a dash cam inside the lucky cop’s patrol car.

In the footage, the officer is seen with his back to the camera as the traffic moves slowly along the icy road.

However, the driver of a Hyundai lorry appears to attempt to overtake a car and promptly loses control of the huge vehicle’s rear end.

The container is seen sliding towards the cop and he nervously backpedals out of the way.

Realising he is still going to be hit, the traffic cop takes evasive action and appears to jump clear of the container moments before it smashes into his patrol car.

According to local media, the quick-thinking cop dove into a pile of snow on the side of the road.

He was reportedly accompanied by another traffic cop, however both officials were unharmed in the incident.

The lorry driver, whose name is not reported, has eight years’ experience on the roads and is accused of dangerous driving.

Netizen ‘Stepa’ said: “I think the police are to blame for the accident. Look how they parked their car, it was too close to the traffic.”

‘Alexander Redkin1’ added: “The man just celebrated the birth of his second life.”

‘Ivan Kech’ commented: “When I see videos like this, I get the feeling that I don’t want to leave my flat anymore.”
