Wendy Adriaens from the municipality of Wuustwezel in the Belgian province of Antwerp, who calls herself an ‘ostrich whisperer’ and says she is saving to buy a large sanctuary one day, posts her cute photos and clips under the name ‘Koch’s Corner’.

Her beloved pet ostriches are called Flodder and Blue.

Adriaens has accounts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok where she boasts over 3 million likes.

Adriaens told Radio 2 Antwerp. “I used to always visit a local ostrich farm, but I never got to touch the animals as it was not allowed there.

“When I heard that some chicks were going to end up in a production line, I saved them.”

She added: “Now I can cuddle them as much as I want.”

When asked if her pets pose a potential threat, Adriaens said: “Ostriches can be dangerous, sure, but I raised my two from chicks. I have put a lot of time into it. In the beginning, I was working with them at least six hours a day.

“I think my videos are a hit because many people are afraid of them.

“I also think it’s because they are new. I’ve been looking for an account with ostriches for a while, but I haven’t found any like-minded people.

“Most people are afraid of ostriches. I think that’s why the videos attract a lot of attention.”

Besides Flodder and Blue, Adriaens also has a chicken called Nina.

She said: “Nina is a battery chicken I saved. She always comes up to me and she also loves a cuddle.
