This is the moment a speeding car crashes into a utility pole side on splitting the vehicle in two and a woman then calmly steps out of the gaping hole in the car.

The incident took place on the Benjamin Claudino Barbosa Road, in the municipality of Sao Jose dos Pinhais, in the metropolitan area of Curitiba, in the southern Brazilian state of Parana.

The crash was recorded by CCTV cameras and images taken in the aftermath show how the car was split into two pieces by the impact.

In the video, the speeding white car can be seen on the road when the driver loses control of it.

The car skids across the tarmac before crashing into the utility pole side on. A woman can be seen stepping out of the gaping hole in the car and walking away from the scene and as the driver of a passing car pulls up.

Local media report a 29-year-old woman was taken to the Hospital do Trabalhador with serious injuries while a 20-year-old man was taken to the Cajuru Hospital with minor injuries.

The female driver of the car reportedly died at the scene. None of the victims have been named in reports.

The Prefecture of Sao Jose dos Pinhais said in a statement: “We will intensify the teams to improve our rural areas, but in accordance with the traffic code, drivers need to respect the speed limit on the roads”.

It is unclear what caused the crash.
