This is the moment a woman lorry driver causes over 115,000 GBP in damage after she loses control of the vehicle and forgets to step on the brake before crashing into the side of a tram.

The accident happened during morning rush hour in the city of Zhuhai in South China’s Guangdong Province on 27th June.

Traffic cameras show lorry driver Ms Xu, 33, setting off at the lights on Meihua West Road when she turns left in order to cross the tram tracks.

However, she mishandles the Chinese-made Changan light goods vehicle and it heads straight for the stopped tram.

Ms Xu does not slow down and slams into the side of the tram car, with internal CCTV video showing a male passenger staring at his mobile phone when the lorry crashes against the window, startling him.

Ms Xu, who delivers car parts for a local garage, was not harmed.

She reportedly told police she was going too fast and lost control of her lorry during the turn.

She then “forgot to step on the brake” as she rammed the stationary tram, police said, adding that she would be held fully liable.

Zhuhai’s tram transport provider estimated the accident caused more than 1 million RMB (115,650 GBP) in damage

Two large glass panes were badly cracked but did not shatter during the incident, reports said.

Ms Xu’s lorry is understood to have been insured for collisions, and the provider is expected to pay out in full.
