This is the moment a woman drives an Uber taxi home herself because the cabbie almost nodded off twice when he was behind the wheel.

According to local media, Tejaswini Divya Naik booked an Uber cab to take her from the city of Pune to Mumbai, both in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

However, she claimed that the driver nearly fell asleep at the wheel twice and “almost killed us both”.

According to reports, when Tejaswini noticed the driver nodding off to sleep a second time, she asked him to stop the car and let her drive.

She spent five minutes trying to convince the cabbie before he finally agreed and she continued driving to Mumbai.

When they arrived at her destination, Tejaswini refused to pay the cabbie and posted images of the incident on social media.

According to local media, Uber India contacted the passenger following her tweet and vowed to look into the matter further although they have yet to get back to her with any details.

Meanwhile, she has been advised to report the incident to the local authorities if she wishes to seek compensation.

Tejaswini also expressed sympathy towards the driver who she said was probably exhausted from driving since 4 or 5am.
