A drug dealer’s wife has been accused of ordering the macabre murder of a former model after discovering he had been giving her drugs for sex.
Victim Aline Lais Lopes, 34, was lured to a derelict theatre in the municipality of Cotia, Sao Paulo State, Brazil, where she was strangled to death, say police.
Her body was then covered with a sofa and set on fire before her charred remains were dumped under a bridge in a supermarket cart on 25th February.
Crime scene investigators also recovered traces of Aline’s body and her belongings at the theatre.
Police say prime suspect Micheli de Andrade Ferraz had hired a transvestite known only as Julia to carry out the killing.
The body – say investigators – was then dumped by accomplice Igor Santos de Moraes, who was paid just BRL 50 (GBP 8).
Aline had been missing since 22nd February, which is the day police believe she was killed.
She leaves behind a one-year-old son.
Civil Police in Cotia continue to investigate the case and have reportedly asked judicial officials to authorise the arrests of Ferraz, her husband Paulo Lamartine Pereira Alexandria, Julia, and De Moraes.
