An angry wife has reportedly bitten her husband’s penis after he refused to remove a rat from her bedroom.

The incident took place in the city of Kitwe in the central Zambian province of Copperbelt on 30th August.

According to the Copperbelt police, 52-year-old Abraham Musonda and his wife Mukupa, 40, who are reportedly separated and sleeping in different rooms, became embroiled in a row over a rat in the woman’s bedroom.

Mukupa, who had been out drinking, was outraged when her husband refused to remove the rat from her room, and to exact revenge, bit his penis.

Police spokesperson Bothwell Namuswa said, “Mukupa had gone out drinking and when she came home she asked Mr Musonda if he could remove a rat from her room. Musonda apparently refused to kill the rat.”

Musonda is being treated for his injuries at the Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH).

The extent of the injury to the victim’s manhood and details of how she managed to reach it were not revealed.

Namuswa confirmed that the couple was separated and living in different rooms.

Hospitalisation, however, may not have stopped the man’s problem with rats.

KTH recently made the headlines after a viral video showed rodents freely roaming around a hospital ward.

The incident led to an impromptu visit from the health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya who said: “As old as the hospital is, it is unacceptable for the management to allow rats in the patient wards, especially after receiving support from the government.”
