A man was disgusted when he found what he described as a severed finger in his beer bottle.
Joiner Marcos Francisco de Jesus, 47, found the foreign object resembling a finger inside the glass bottle a week ago (Wednesday, 20th April).
De Jesus – who lives in Praia Grande, south-eastern Brazil – said: “When I hit the bottle, the object moved around. It looked like it was shaped like a finger. It even had a nail.”
The joiner purchased the beer as part of a 12-pack, along with other items, via a delivery app earlier this month.
He only noticed the foreign object shortly after popping the cap when he went to enjoy a cold beer to unwind with his wife at the end of a hard day’s work.
He said: “I sat down and, when I looked inside the bottle, I saw there was something there.
“I had already noticed that, when I took the cap off, there was no gas, there was no pressure.
“I didn’t drink it, of course. I took some videos and then I emptied the bottle and made a slightly better video.”
He then asked his son to help him to post the video to social media as a warning to others.
De Jesus’ wife confirmed her husband’s version of events.
Furniture designer Erika Travasso, 43, said: “My husband thought it might even have been a finger, because when he shook the bottle, it made a strange noise, like bone hitting the glass.
“On closer inspection, there were some white parts exposed, which indeed looked like bone.”
De Jesus called the experience “grotesque”.
A representative of the beer brand in question – Antarctica, one of Brazil’s most popular brands – reportedly collected the bottle for analysis.
De Jesus said: “They gave me a pack of beer as a gift and agreed to tell me what happened. I want to know what was there.”
