This white South African has sparked controversy by featuring his black maid in a series of TikTok videos without her consent.

Malcolm Wentze -whose hometown has not been reported – has gained popularity for the series in which he records supposed everyday interactions between him and domestic worker Thembi Ubisi.

According to local media, the videos have so far received thousands of views onsocial media – however, they have also sparked controversy with some accusing him of exploiting her.

In one of the videos, Thembi is seen wearing her employer’s jacket after he asks if she is feeling cold.

In the clip she can be heard saying: “today it’s f*** cold, I want this one. It’s very nice.”

Wentzel laughs and responds, “leave my lekker jacket alone, ya, that one is nice, it’s antifreeze.”

The clips have sparked fury among some netizens.

‘NontshiShange’ tweeted: “These videos feel exploitative. Thembi is being used as Malcom’s pawn to feed his white savior complex. It’s almost his way of reinforcing his wealth while making her seem like spoiled and almost greedy – like she’s taking from him.”

Meanwhile, another social media user tweeted : “Stop turning domestic workers into social media content.”

Meanwhile, many in South Africa have called for the domestic worker to be given sponsorship deals by some of the country’s biggest brands.

According to local media, Thembi has been Wentzel’s employee for nine years.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Thembi was unaware that she was being filmed for TikTok however, she has said that she is a happy with the positive comments she has received.

Wentzel said he does not consider Thembi as just someone who works for him, saying “we work together”.
