A Moroccan singer has raised eyebrows by posting a photo of someone else’s baby on her Instagram page and passing him off as her own.

Dunia Batma, 29, had previously posted photos of her eldest daughter Ghazal for her 6.9 million Instagram followers, but had not yet shared any snaps of her newborn Laila Rose.

However, the one-time Arab Idol runner-up surprised fans by posting an alleged photo of her youngest daughter’s sad face on 3rd February, writing: “Iman always makes Laila Rose cry.”

It soon emerged that the photo was not of Laila Rose at all, but had been taken from the Instagram profile of an American woman named Bethani who has over 20,000 followers.

Bethani posted the photo of her baby son on 23rd April last year, and Dunia had seemingly taken it, cropped it, and posted it to her followers, pretending the boy was her daughter.

Bethani became aware of the story and posted a video on Instagram Stories in which she laughed about the bizarre incident and even revealed the singer had blocked her.

Dunia has not apparently commented on the incident, and her Instagram photos do not allow comments. However, the post, which has since garnered over 146,000 likes, remains on her profile.

The singer’s 2015 hit ‘Maziane Waer’ has over 54 million views on YouTube.
