This is the viral moment a parent attacks a referee on the basketball court during a game.
The footage shows the parent, wearing a black T-shirt and a baseball cap, exchanging words with the basketball official before he can be seen repeatedly punching the referee, who can then be seen tackling him to the ground as people try to separate the pair.
Other parents eventually appear to separate the brawling dad and the referee, neither of whom have been named, with them both being held back as they try to go for each other again.
The images were shared on social media where they had notched up over 4.8 million views at the time of writing on one platform alone.
The incident took place at the SportONE Parkview Fieldhouse, in Fort Wayne, a city in the US state of Indiana, over the weekend.
Local media said that the parent was escorted from the venue.
The Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department said that officers were not called to the scene.
It is currently unclear if the incident is being investigated and what prompted the violence in the first place. The venue did not comment on the incident, according to local media.
