Violinist Plays Tribute Concert On Italy Hospital Roof

This is the moment a violinist performs a moving concert on a hospital roof to pay tribute to healthcare workers in the COVID-19 affected Italian region of Lombardy.

The rooftop concert was filmed at the Maggiore Hospital in the city of Cremona in Lombardy, one of the worst hit regions in Italy, and the footage was shared on YouTube by ‘Pro Cremona’ where it has been viewed over 105,000 times.

Pro Cremona aims to showcase the city’s history and traditions.

Gorgeous violinist Lena Yokoyama of the Violin Museum in Cremona played four songs in honour of healthcare workers in the region.

The musician performed ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ from the 1986 film ‘The Mission’, ‘Love Theme’ from the 1988 Italian drama movie ‘Cinema Paradiso’, ‘Schindler’s List’ by John Williams, and the Italian national anthem ‘Il Canto degli Italiani’.

Pro Cremona spokeswoman Valentina Costa told Newsflash: “People’s reaction was beautiful and touching.

“There were doctors and nurses watching the concert from the hospital windows.

“It was part of an initiative to pay tribute to medics fighting the virus on the frontlines as well as the affected patients.”
