US Cops In Intense Standoff With Stubborn Suspect With Gun On Passenger Seat

This is the moment officers engage in an intense confrontation with an uncooperative driver who has a gun on the passenger seat and refuses to exit the vehicle.

The incident happened in Genoa Township in Delaware County in the US state of Ohio shortly after 1am on 2nd December.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol officer requested that Officer Mike Sigman from the Genoa Police Department back him up on a traffic stop.

Body-camera footage released by the Genoa Township Police Department on their Facebook page shows the patrol officer repeatedly ordering the suspect to get out of the car while pointing his gun at him.

The suspect, who has not been identified, refuses to follow orders and stubbornly argues with the officers.

At one point, he seemingly reaches for the officer’s gun, escalating the argument as the patrol officer grabs his arm to immobilise him.

According to the police, the patrol officer spotted a gun on the passenger seat in the suspect’s car.

Police dog Ben from the K9 Unit was also instructed to sniff around the car due to several indicators that drugs may be onboard.

In the video, the suspect closes his car door on the cops and drives away from the scene.

The police said that the man was caught and arrested following a lengthy pursuit.

Chief Steve Gammill from the Genoa police department wrote: “I want to commend Officer Sigman and the trooper for a job well done.”
