Ukrainian Forces Destroy Russian BMP On Frontlines Near Lyman

These images show Ukrainian forces using a kamikaze drone to destroy a Russian infantry fighting vehicle on the battlefield near Lyman.

The footage shows the attack drone honing in on its target before hitting it and causing a large explosion.

The images were obtained from the 60th Separate Mechanized Ingulets Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Saturday, 9th March, along with a statement saying: “Destruction of an enemy infantry fighting vehicle in the Liman sector by the ‘Vidar’ group of the 60th Brigade.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 11th March 2024, Russia had lost approximately 424,980 personnel, 6,739 tanks, 12,874 armoured combat vehicles, 10,499 artillery units, 1,016 multiple launch rocket systems, 711 air defence systems, 347 warplanes, 325 helicopters, 8,141 drones, 1,919 cruise missiles, 26 warships, 1 submarine, 13,826 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,686 units of special equipment.

The Ukrainian film “20 Days in Mariupol,” shot during the Russian assault on the city in 2022, has won the Best Documentary Oscar at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

Odesa faced Russian drone attacks overnight and this morning on 11th March, with 10 drones shot down. Infrastructure and administrative buildings were damaged, but no casualties were reported. Shockwaves shattered windows in homes and caused debris damage to commercial buildings.

Ukraine has significantly sped up the construction of defensive structures along various parts of the frontline, including anti-tank obstacles and trenches. This reflects the ongoing conflict’s attritional nature, indicating that breaching these defences will likely result in heavy casualties.

Starting next week, UK vehicles that do not meet London’s ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) standards can be donated to Ukraine instead of being scrapped. Donors will receive a grant of up to GBP 2,000 (USD 2,600), similar to those who scrap or retrofit their vehicles.

Macron was initially set to go in February but he signed a bilateral security accord with Zelensky in Paris instead. The French presidency is considering whether to include other Western heads of state on the trip to show unity and solidarity with Ukraine.

Russian shelling in eastern Ukraine has resulted in three deaths and a dozen injuries, according to Kyiv. Additionally, missile attacks targeted the north-eastern Kharkiv region. And attack drones were deployed across central and southern Ukraine. Ukraine also reported one casualty from Russian shelling in a border village.
