These images show the Ukrainian air defence taking out a Russian Shahed kamikaze drone near Odesa.
The footage shows an explosion in the night sky as the Ukrainian air defence systems take out the incoming Russian Shahed drones.
The images were obtained from the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Saturday, 11th March, along with a statement saying: “Servicemen of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed ‘Shahed’.
“On the night of 10-11 March, during an air attack of the occupants, the forces and means of the Ukrainian Navy shot down an enemy kamikaze drone ‘SHAHED-136’ over Odesa region.
“The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to destroy the enemy on land, at sea, and in the air!
“Together to victory!
“Glory to Ukraine!”
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 11th March 2024. Russia had lost approximately 424,980 personnel, 6,739 tanks, 12,874 armoured combat vehicles, 10,499 artillery units, 1,016 multiple launch rocket systems, 711 air defence systems, 347 warplanes, 325 helicopters, 8,141 drones, 1,919 cruise missiles, 26 warships, 1 submarine, 13,826 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,686 units of special equipment.

Ukrainian Air Defence Destroys Incoming Russian Drones At Night
Odesa faced Russian drone attacks overnight and this morning on 11th March, with 10 drones shot down. Infrastructure and administrative buildings were damaged, but no casualties were reported. Shockwaves shattered windows in homes and caused debris damage to commercial buildings.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected Pope Francis’s call for talks with Russia, calling it “virtual mediation.”
Ukraine has significantly sped up the construction of defensive structures along various parts of the frontline, including anti-tank obstacles and trenches. This reflects the ongoing conflict’s attritional nature, indicating that breaching these defences will likely result in heavy casualties.
Starting next week, UK vehicles that do not meet London’s ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) standards can be donated to Ukraine instead of being scrapped. Donors will receive a grant of up to GBP 2,000 (USD 2,600), similar to those who scrap or retrofit their vehicles.
Over the past five years, weapons imports to Europe have doubled, partly due to the Ukraine war. While exports from Russia have halved, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri).
Ukraine has become the world’s fourth-largest arms importer, and France has replaced Russia as the world’s second-largest exporter behind the US.
Ukrainian Air Defence Destroys Russian Shahed Drones Targeting Odesa
Officials said that French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Macron initially set to go in February but he signed a bilateral security accord with Zelensky in Paris instead. The French presidency is considering whether to include other Western heads of state on the trip to show unity and solidarity with Ukraine.
Russian shelling in eastern Ukraine has resulted in three deaths and a dozen injuries, according to Kyiv. Additionally, missile attacks targeted the north-eastern Kharkiv region. And attack drones were deployed across central and southern Ukraine. Ukraine also reported one casualty from Russian shelling in a border village.
