Citizens of a city in eastern China have been baffled after witnessing strange flickering lights suddenly appearing in the night sky that left some speculating that the aliens are coming.

The mysterious lights were spotted high in the clouds over Suzhou, a city in the Jiangsu Province on the evening of 27th November.

The sci-fi-looking scene was filmed by a passerby, named Mr Deng in local media, who said he was out walking when he came across the unusual sight.

In the video, multiple luminous objects can be seen flashing through the cloudy airspace above the tall-rising buildings.

Dozens of them suddenly vanish, then reappear just as quickly as Mr Deng adjusts the shooting angle by zooming in and out on the peculiar lights.

Mr Deng said he did not know what the light spots were, but noted that they were motionless and looming and remained visible for nearly an hour.

He shared the bewildering video on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

Netizens said they had never seen something like it before, and some speculated that it might have been an alien spacecraft.

User ‘Lu Lulu’ said: “Aliens finally came to China.”

And user ‘Kick the lame man’s good leg,’ jokingly added: “The aliens are coming, and they have to be quarantined!”

The staff of the Suzhou Meteorological Observatory stated that there was no abnormal weather on the night of the 27th, and they did not know what the light spots were.
