A pretty law student has said that her boyfriend nearly killed her when she was pistol-whipped and punched for drinking a beer without his permission.
Isabella Lacerda, 20, said she was assaulted by her boyfriend Thiago Brandao Abreu, 40, in the city of Goiania, in the state of Goias, Brazil, on the night of Friday, 9th December.
The police said they arrested the abusive boyfriend after he allegedly gave Isabella another beating.
Isabella said that she had been at a friend’s house when she accidentally video-called her boyfriend and he saw that she was drinking a beer.
This reportedly infuriated him and after she got home, he allegedly pulled her into his car and drove around for an hour, beating her and threatening to kill her after having threatened to kill her brother.
Isabella said: “He said ‘come out here, I want to have a little talk with you and if your brother gets in the way, I’m going to shoot him’.”
She was then forced into his car at gunpoint, with the suspect allegedly pulling her hair and punching her as well as pistol-whipping her with the butt of his firearm. She said that while he was attacking her in the car, he was also driving around the area.
Isabella said that she was only able to escape after she managed to contact her mother and tell her her location, with the mum then picking her up and convincing Brandao Abreu to let her go.
Isabella said: “He took me by force in my house, beat me with a gun, kept me tortured, threatened and beaten for an hour. And I am alive, thanks to my mother, who was the one who saved me, who was the one who picked me up.”
They then went to the police and filed a report, with the local authorities then arresting the suspect.
But Isabella said that she still does not feel safe and is afraid that Brandao Abreu will try to kill her again. She said: “Me and my family are in danger.”
She said: “He tried to kill me. It is being very difficult because I lived more than an hour of torture. I was beaten with a gun, I was bitten, my hands were dislocated, my whole body. He ripped out almost all of my hair.”
Isabella said that she had been dating her allegedly abusive boyfriend, who is also into shooting and runs a hunting and fishing company that sells guns and ammunition, for about 11 months and had been surprised by his aggressive attitude.
The police are understood to be investigating the incident. It was unclear at the time of writing if the suspect had been charged.
