This is the moment a cruel mum pours water over her coughing six-month-old baby’s face waterboarding-style in a bid to force the tot’s father to get back with her.

Meanwhile, other footage shows her standing on the baby with her foot pressed up against the tot’s throat.

The mother was arrested when a cop in Ecatepec de Morelos in the central Mexican state of Mexico spotted her allegedly beating the baby girl in the middle of a park while changing her nappy.

According to reports, the baby was constantly beaten as a way of getting back at the father, who was allegedly being blackmailed with the videos.

Police found several videos on the mother’s phone showing the extent of the abuse the infant reportedly suffered.

In one video, a woman is seen pouring water over the crying tot’s face as she struggles on the floor. Another scene shows the same person with their foot pressed down on the baby’s chest.

Reports said that there were other clips of the woman holding a knife to the baby and that she was also placed in a full bucket, barely able to keep her head above the water.

Sandra Pacheco Garcia, head of the Centre of Justice for Women in Ecatepec, said that the baby’s father has been located and he is assisting the authorities with their investigation.

His daughter was checked by doctors who reportedly found signs of physical abuse to her legs, hands and face.

She is currently being cared for by her father, according to local media.

Meanwhile, the mother, identified as 31-year-old Karina, has been arrested and charged, but is currently free on bail with a restraining order preventing her from going near her baby.

The investigation is ongoing.
