A Turkish DJ with over 3 million followers is being pursued for ‘sexual assault’ and ‘shameless behaviour’ after sharing footage of a man masturbating in an aeroplane toilet online.

Turkish social media personality, DJ and make-up artist Kerimcan Durmaz says he shared the video by accident.

The explicit clip shows a man recording himself masturbating in what appears to be a plane toilet.

Durmaz reportedly shared the video on his Instagram ‘story’ before it was soon deleted and he then posted a statement claiming a fan had sent him the video and he had shared it accidentally on his social media page.

He wrote: “Instead of sharing the video which was sent to me with my lawyer I accidentally shared it on my social media account, I am apologising from everybody for the inconvenience.” The statement was later removed.

Local media now report lawyers Merve Saruhan Aydingoz and Melih Altikardes, based in the Turkish city of Bursa, have filed a suit against Durmaz in the public prosecution in Bursa province.

The lawyers are asking for Durmaz to be prosecuted for ‘shameless behaviour’, ‘sexual assault’ and other determined crimes as they claim the man in the video is Durmaz.

Lawyer Altikardes in his statement said: “A pornographic video has been shared from the official account of Kerimcan Durmaz in a way that was seen by all his followers. Durmaz later shared a statement claiming the footage did not belong to him.

“However footage of him at the airport with the same outfit from the video with masturbation which he has removed from his account can be seen shared on other social media accounts.”

And Aydingoz added that Durmaz also has underage followers saying: “I am a mother and my colleague has two children too. Considering that children watch these videos, I cannot even imagine the traumas they will have.

“In these days where sexual assault has been a topic in the country, a popular person like him with so many followers sharing such a video has disturbed the conscience of the public. Kerimcan’s behaviour is contradictory to the Turkish moral structure. We will also file to the Court of Peace for his account to be removed.”

The case is ongoing.

Durmaz worked as a make-up artist after finishing high school. In 2015, he started to become a social media celebrity by sharing videos on Periscope and Snapchat. He later returned to Istanbul, his hometown, and started to work as a DJ.
