A man in Germany who sexually abused his two-year-old stepson after the child was given a massive dose of crystal meth has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with no chance of early release.

The court in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt handed down the sentence for murder, rape, sexual abuse and other charges to 31-year-old Denis Kunert on Friday 21st May.

The baby’s mother, identified as 36-year-old Uta Fohrigen was sentenced to six months’ probation for negligent bodily harm by omission.

She was found not to have done anything to stop the abuse of her son.

The presiding judge told her: “You are to a certain extent to blame that Tim is no longer alive.”

Tim’s dead body was found with signs of physical violence in the apartment in which the couple lived in the town of Querfurt in July 2020.

During the trial, Kunert admitted to beating and sexually molesting the youngster whenever he felt like it, apparently to try and deal with his bad temper because it calmed him down.

He told the shocked courtroom in March: “I felt better when I hit him. Tim was like an outlet for me.”

Kunert also admitted to filming himself sexually abusing his two-year-old stepson, and over 30 videos of him sexually abusing and torturing the youngster were found on his mobile phone.

However, he denied drugging the toddler, claiming his partner must have done so.

Forensic doctors found 3,700 nanogrammes of methamphetamine per litre in Tim’s blood, which they said was a value five times higher than that of an adult crystal meth junkie.

Kunert’s lawyer has said he will appeal the sentence.
