The main defendant, named as Elvan Kucukaltun, 48 at the time, told the court in Turkey that he could not remember cutting off 39-year-old Kadir Demir’s penis in Manavgat, a city in Antalya Province in Turkey, on Friday, 28th January.

Kucukaltun was arrested after eyewitnesses raised the alarm when he tried to bury the corpse in a nearby park. He also reportedly instructed his girlfriend, German national Nadia Angela Grosser, 40, to discard the victim’s bag by throwing it into the sea.

Kucukaltun, who lived with Grosser, had reportedly been drinking since the early hours of the morning. The duo invited their friend Demir, who had called them asking what they were doing at around 3.30pm, to the flat.

The trio, who continued to drink after Demir’s arrival at around 7pm, then had sexual intercourse. But Kucukaltun became jealous and allegedly started to argue with Demir, and this soon turned into a brawl.

Kucukaltun allegedly first stabbed Demir with a knife 54 times according to local media, and then cut off his genitals.

Realising that Demir had died, Kucukaltun went out to find a place to bury the body in the park near his flat after having a drink with Grosser at a nearby market.

He then reportedly told Grosser to leave the house, which she did, taking her dogs.

Eyewitnesses saw Kucukaltun, who had started digging a grave in the park, and reported him to the police.

Kucukaltun, who saw the police arriving, fled the park and went to the beach, where he was subsequently arrested.

Kucukaltun, who was covered in blood, reportedly told the police officers: “I chopped some meat. I got bored, so I went out to get some air.”

The police went to the flat and found Demir’s corpse.

Demir’s body was sent to the morgue at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute after a preliminary examination at the scene.

Grosser said in her statement: “After Kadir’s aggressive and harsh attitudes towards me during sexual intercourse, he and Elvan first argued and started punching each other. Meanwhile, Elvan told me to get out of the bedroom. Fearing Kadir would do something to me, I took the dogs with me and left the flat.

“Later, Elvan called me three times. In the first call, he said that he had killed Kadir and he would decide what to do. Then he called once more. I decided to go back home. When I saw the police cars on the street, I turned back in fear. Elvan called me again and told me to come home and that the police were waiting for me. I came home. It was Elvan’s birthday on 19th January. I had bought him a knife as a gift at the time. I don’t know if he killed him with it.”

Kucukaltun was charged with murder while Grosser was initially released under judicial control before being arrested again two days later for destroying, concealing or changing criminal evidence.

The indictment prepared by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the incident was accepted by the 2nd High Criminal Court.

The indictment alleges that the incident arose out of an argument during the threesome and that Kucukaltun killed Demir with 54 knife blows from a knife, 34 of which were potentially fatal, before severing his penis.

The indictment also reportedly states that video footage of the threesome was found on the victim’s phone.

Prosecutors have requested that Kucukaltun be jailed for aggravated murder and Grosser for being an accessory to murder.

Kucukaltun has claimed that he does not remember the brutal killing due to the quantity of alcohol he had consumed, saying that when he drinks alcohol, he suffers memory problems.

He said: “He [Demir] came to our house a few times, we had drinks together. After drinking, I couldn’t remember what we were doing. I was asking Nadja what happened the next day. Nadja told me.”

Kucukaltun reportedly claimed: “While drinking, Kadir offered a threesome by saying ‘Germans like to have group sex’. Neither Nadja nor I accepted. In the meantime. I remember broken things. I was vomiting in the toilet, while Kadir and Nadja went to the bedroom, they were having intercourse.

“Nadja was writhing in pain, she said, ‘get me out of this’. The knife fell. We had a fight, my fingers were cut off trying to get the knife from her. While we were fighting, Nadja had left the room. I don’t remember what happened next, I don’t remember cutting the penis off.”

When asked by the judge about the images on the phone, Kucukaltun also claimed not to remember them due to the alcohol.

Grosser gave a statement in the presence of an interpreter at the hearing and said that they had met Demir while they were walking on the beach in Side in 2020.

Grosser explained that Kadir Demir came to their house from time to time and they had a threesome relationship. She said Kucukaltun at one point left the room, while she and Demir continued having intercourse.

She then said that Kucukaltun returned to the room in his underwear and told her to leave. Grosser said: “He told me ‘get out of the room’. I went to the living room. Elvan closed the door. Then Elvan came to the living room. His hand was bleeding, I dressed him.

“He was very drunk, so I did not ask what was inside. Then we went to the market to buy alcohol. On the way, he said to me, ‘I think he died’, referring to Kadir. I was very afraid. I said, ‘I don’t want it.’ As I was leaving the house with the dogs, he said to me, ‘Take Kadir’s bag and throw it into the sea’.”

Grosser also said: “On my way to the beach, I called my ex-husband in Germany, explained the situation and asked what I should do. He said to me, ‘I’ll call Elvan’. He spoke to Elvan. Elvan sent him two photos of Kadir’s penis cut.

“My ex-husband sent them to me and said, ‘Go to the police immediately with these pictures and the bag in your hand’.

“Meanwhile, Elvan called me and said that the gendarmerie had come to the house and that they wanted to meet with me. Out of fear, I left the bag in my hand on the first car I saw and went home.”

At the end of the hearing, Kucukaltun was maintained in custody while Grosser was released under judicial control.

The trial is ongoing.
