This is the moment a jewellery store owner coming out of the loo with his trousers around his ankles is shot dead by a masked robber as he tries to stop the thief from escaping.

The incident took place in the district of Akdeniz in the southern Turkish province of Mersin and was filmed by a CCTV camera inside the jewellery store where the masked robber had already shot a shop worker dead.

In the shocking footage, the shop assistant, identified as Yasin Tazgul, is seen talking to the armed robber before walking around the counter, seemingly to confront the masked man.

However, the cold-hearted gunman wastes no time shooting the assistant several times at close range.

He then proceeds to empty the till and steal jewellery items, stopping to fire his gun at a target off camera.

In that moment, the shop owner – identified as Mustafa Serpil – is seen running out of the shop with his trousers round his ankles after reportedly being on the toilet.

The gunman appears to pay him no mind and continues stealing valuable items, however the shop owner bizarrely lingers outside the store in his white boxer shorts.

With Serpil still visibly standing outside, the thief eventually grabs his gun, runs around the counter and shoots the owner through the glass.

He then opens the door and runs out with the loot.

According to local media, the emergency services were immediately called to the scene, but both men were already dead.

The gunman remains at large as the local authorities investigate the incident.
