This is the moment a thief grabs a young girl around her neck from behind and reportedly forces her to tell him how to unlock her phone before running away with the device.

The startling incident occurred in broad daylight in the municipality of Tecamac in the State of Mexico in Mexico and was recorded by a CCTV camera.

In the video, the thief can be seen grabbing the girl from behind with one arm around her neck and the other hand on her back holding what local media report is a knife.

He then walks with her to behind a car where he is seen holding a phone he had taken from her. He appears to ask her how to unlock the device and after he touches the screen he sprints away with the phone.

Local media report the girl, who has not been identified but is reportedly a minor, said she had been going to visit her aunt when she was surprised by the robber who asked her for her mobile phone passcode. She was reportedly uninjured in the incident.

The video was shared by social media users and local media as asking for help to identify the thief and arrest him. He has not been identified in reports and no arrests have been reported.
