This video shows the moment a jilted older man shoots a beautiful young woman dead after she rejected his advances at her workplace.

The incident took place in the municipality of Terezopolis de Goias, in the west-central Brazilian state of Goias, at around 1.30pm on Monday, 21st March.

Security camera footage shows how Fernando Inacio da Silva, 37, draws a handgun and shoots dead beautiful Mariana Almeida, 23, while she is alone at work.

Before opening fire, he is seen blocking the doorway so she cannot run away, and he appears to dither for a short time after drawing his weapon, terrifying the young woman during her final moments.

According to police spokesman Jorge Bezerra, there was no relationship between the perpetrator and the victim, who worked at an Internet service provider.

However, the man had reportedly been pursuing the young woman and giving her gifts to try to conquer her heart in the days leading up to the shooting.

But the young woman was uninterested in her older suitor and had repeatedly rejected his advances, according to reports.

Bezerra said: “Out of the blue, he arrived at her work with two guns. One he unloaded on her, then took the other, shot her a few more times and then himself.”

The bodies were subsequently taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in the municipality of Anapolis, also in Goias state, for post-mortems, the results of which had not been reported at the time of writing.

Investigators are currently questioning family and friends of both of the deceased.
