A young Spanish woman who spent four years documenting the fight against cancer has died.
The news of the death of brave Instagramer Elena Huelva, 20, who had almost 800,000 followers, was announced by her family yesterday, 3rd January.
They said that a new star has joined heaven after her passing.
The young woman from Seville in Spain became a symbol for many in her attempts to fight the disease after she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that occurs in bones or soft tissue around the bones.
It is more common in children and teenagers and in people with European ancestry rather than African or East Asian, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The young woman who showed pictures of her battle, including how she lost all her hair, also managed to write a book entitled ‘My Desire Wins. No One Promised Us Tomorrow. Live the Present’.
She was diagnosed when she was just 16 when they had already found metastasis in her lungs.
Elena managed to fight it off but later returned in 2020, resulting in frequent hospital visits, and eventually resulted in her death.
She attracted the attention of numerous celebrities, including Aitana, Ana Obregon, Manuel Carrasco and Sara Carbonero.
One of her last messages to her followers was posted on Monday, 2nd January, saying “I love you” and she also thanked her followers for the immense affection they had given to her.
On learning of her death, the Spanish actress Ana osaid: “Having you in my life and loving you has been the best thing that has happened to me in 2022.
“I will take care of your mother and your sister. I will accompany them in their mourning. I will continue with my son’s foundation financing research against Ewing’s damn sarcoma.”
On Tuesday, Elena wrote: “Today I woke up not in the best way, what’s more, nothing good.
“These are very difficult days, they are becoming very complicated, more and more so in fact, but as you know, I am stronger and more complicated.”
