SWEPT AWAY: Man’s Last Moments Alive In Saudi Flood

This is the shocking moment a man is swept to his death in Saudi Arabia as he wades waist-high into raging flood waters.

Grim footage of his last moments shows the unnamed man in a pink T-shirt clutching a sheet of paper as he tries to walk through the fast-flowing flood.

Seconds earlier, a black Mercedes Benz saloon had been swept down the flooded street in Mecca like a toy boat.

As he steps into the current, his legs immediately start to give way and he tries to inch towards the side of the flooded street, where he grabs a makeshift wall by a building site.

But within seconds, he is swept away and disappears beneath the water.

A second video taken by an eyewitness above also shows how the man is swept off down the hill after colliding with the car.

Eyewitnesses said that a short while later, he hit his head on a box trapped in front of a car.

His body was eventually recovered 13 km (8 mi) away from the place where this footage was filmed.

Heavy rains had hit not just Mecca but also Medina in Saudi Arabia, with the rainfall also drenching worshippers in the great Mosque in Mecca’s courtyard.

Flights were also delayed at the King Abdulaziz International Airport and schools and universities were closed.

Many roads were also forced to close because of the flooding, with online criticism about a lack of proper urban planning to ensure the water was funnelled away.
